Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) are now considered to be a Keystone Species which form an extremely beneficial symbiotic relationship with over 90% of the plants on earth.

The AMF penetrate the plant roots and form Arbuscules.

Through Photosynthesis, plants produce sugars which they share with the AMF which the AMF then share with enzyme producing soil bacteria in exchange for Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Minerals which they in turn provide back to the plant roots.

The place where this exchange between the AMF and Plant Roots happens is called an Arbuscule.

AMF are also able to access several hundred times the area of soil which plant roots alone can access which greatly increases the amount of Nutrients delivered to the plant/tree.

AMF also produce Glomalin which is a main ingredient in the formation of Humus, that rich, dark soil that ALL plants thrive in.
